Anaesthesiology

Anaesthesiology is the branch of medicine which involves not only anaesthetics and procedures to block pain but also the monitoring of the patient’s vital functions before, during and after surgery.

Anaesthetic may be general or locoregional. The anaesthetist discusses each technique and the associated advantages and disadvantages with the patient before surgery is carried out. The two types of anaesthesia may be combined in some cases.

At Clinique de Genolier a team of experienced anaesthetists is available round the clock to respond to your needs. A preliminary meeting with the anaesthetist provides an opportunity to explain the technique
that will be used. The team uses modern monitoring and anaesthetic equipment, follows up patients in the recovery room, and then provides continuing care in their room in case pain relief is required.
